Home › Best signature generators
We build one of these tools (ProSignature) — so this comparison is transparent about that, specific about differences, and honest about who should pick something else.
Short answer: for a small business whose team is on Gmail and wants a genuinely free signature, ProSignature is the strongest fit — it is the only tool in this comparison whose free plan carries no watermark, imports your logo and brand colours from your website automatically, and writes the finished signature into Gmail through Google's official API in one click, for new mail and replies. It is our product, which is why the rest of this page shows our working.
The honest alternatives: if you need exactly one signature, once, with no account at all, HubSpot's free generator is excellent and adds no branding — it is copy-paste only and saves nothing. If an IT admin must push signatures across a whole Google Workspace domain with directory sync, SyncSignature (from $6/month solo, $10/month + $2/user for teams) and Exclaimer are built for that and we are not, yet. If you want the widest catalogue of add-ons and do not mind branding on the free tier, WiseStamp is the veteran.
The deciding question is not which editor is prettiest — every tool here produces a decent signature. It is who does the installing. A 1-20 person business without an IT owner is better served by each person installing their own in one click than by a rollout project.
Two disclosures first, because they should change how you read this. ProSignature is our product — we say so in every section rather than burying it. And we are not paid by anyone here: there are no affiliate links on this page and no vendor has reviewed it.
Every tool was judged against the same five criteria, in this order of weight:
The highest-weighted criterion by far, because it is where most signatures actually fail. Email-safe HTML — inline styles, table layout, sized hosted images — survives Gmail and Outlook. Image exports and web-styled HTML do not.
Direct install through Google's API beats copy-paste, because the clipboard drops inline styles and Gmail's editor re-wraps layouts. This is a genuine functional difference, not a preference.
We checked each free tier for watermarks, feature-gating below usability, and whether hosted assets expire on cancellation. Findings are dated in each entry.
Whether one locked design can be deployed with each person's own details, and whether that needs mail-platform admin access.
Base fees and seat minimums matter more than headline per-seat pricing at small sizes. All figures below were verified against each vendor's live pricing page on 26 July 2026 and are dated for that reason — re-check before relying on them.
What we did not weight: template counts (most are variations), star ratings from review sites we cannot audit, and design flourishes that break in Outlook.
Pricing verified against each vendor's live page on 26 July 2026. “Free tier” means a genuinely usable free plan, not a trial.

Gimmio, Blinq, Letsignit, SyncSignature, htmlsig, Signitic and Rocketseed also operate in this category. We have not included prices for them because we could not verify their live pricing pages on the date above, and we will not repeat figures from third-party listicles as if we had checked them. Where we have written a full comparison — htmlsig and SyncSignature — it is linked below.

Full disclosure: ProSignature is our product. It exists because the classic tools make two things harder than they should be: installing the signature (copy-paste breaks formatting) and keeping a small team consistent. ProSignature pulls your logo and brand colors from your website automatically, gives you 13 email-safe templates, and installs into Gmail in one click — it writes the signature straight into your Gmail settings via Google's own API. Teams get one locked design with per-person details. The designer is free; Pro and per-seat Team plans add premium templates and rollout controls. If you live in Outlook only, our install there is currently copy-paste — WiseStamp or Exclaimer may fit better today.
WiseStamp popularized the category and remains a solid pick for individuals who want lots of extras (quotes, banners, apps) around their signature. Its free tier carries WiseStamp branding, and team management is a separate, pricier product. Pick it if you want the most add-ons; skip it if you mainly want a clean signature installed fast.
HubSpot's free generator is a genuinely decent form-based tool: fill fields, pick from a handful of layouts, copy the result. No account needed. Its limits: no brand extraction, no reinstall/editing later (you start over), copy-paste only, and it's ultimately a lead magnet for HubSpot. Great for a five-minute fix; not a system.
MySignature offers a capable editor and an email-tracking add-on. The free plan watermarks your signature, and most value sits behind the subscription. Fair choice for individuals comparing editors; check the current pricing against what you actually need.
Newoldstamp leans into signature marketing: campaign banners, department rules, analytics. It's aimed at marketing teams in mid-size companies and priced accordingly. If you're a 3-person shop, it's probably more machine than you need.
Exclaimer applies signatures server-side for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace — every email gets stamped centrally, which compliance-heavy enterprises love. Setup and pricing are IT-scale; there's no meaningful free tier. If you're 200+ seats with an IT team, shortlist it (see our detailed Exclaimer comparison). If you're a solo realtor, it's the wrong aisle.
ProSignature (one-click install) or HubSpot (quick free one-off).
ProSignature Teams — locked design, per-person details.
Newoldstamp, or ProSignature's banner block for lighter needs.
Exclaimer's server-side stamping.
Every tool in this table produces a block of markup that lands in someone else's inbox. These are real renders — not mockups — of the output the criteria above are measuring.

Solo professional or self-employed, on Gmail: take a free, unwatermarked tier — ours or HubSpot's. The difference is that ours installs in one click and imports your brand automatically; HubSpot's is copy-paste but genuinely free with no account. Either beats a watermarked “free” tier that advertises someone else on every email you send.
Small team, 2-20 people, no IT: the deciding factor is deployment, not templates. ProSignature and WiseStamp both deploy centrally; compare real monthly cost at your actual headcount, because base fees dominate at small sizes — WiseStamp Basic is $19/month plus $1/employee, so at three people you are paying mostly base fee. See the small-business breakdown.
25+ mailboxes with an IT admin and a compliance requirement: Exclaimer, not us. Server-side injection guarantees every message from every device carries an approved signature — that is a real advantage we do not offer, and its ten-user minimum stops mattering at that scale. Full comparison.
You mainly want signature analytics: MySignature. Click tracking and Gmail email tracking are its moat. Comparison.
You want the biggest add-on catalog: WiseStamp, which has more accumulated integrations than anyone. Head-to-head.
Since we are one of the options being compared, here is more of what ours produces — judge it against the criteria above.

Written and maintained by the ProSignature team. We build ProSignature, which appears in this comparison — so treat it as a vendor source and judge the reasoning rather than the ranking. We think a vendor who shows their working and names the cases where a competitor wins is more useful than one who does not, but you should weigh it accordingly.
Our editorial rules, in full:
Found something out of date or wrong? It probably is — pricing changes constantly. Tell us and we will correct it. More about the company and how we work: About ProSignature.
Each of these goes deeper than the summary above, with pricing verified against the vendor's live page on the day of writing: ProSignature vs WiseStamp and the broader WiseStamp alternative guide; MySignature alternative (including what happens to hosted signatures when you cancel); Newoldstamp alternative (no usable free tier); Exclaimer alternative (where we say plainly that Exclaimer is the better fit for larger IT-administered fleets); and the Canva comparison, which is really an argument about image versus HTML; plus htmlsig alternative and SyncSignature alternative, the two tools Google's AI Overview cites for this category; and mail-signatures.com alternative, which ranks for several of the queries in this cluster. Choosing for a company rather than yourself? Start at best for small business or best for Gmail.
Design your signature and install it into Gmail in one click — free.
Create my signature — freeFor a quick one-off, HubSpot's free generator works. For a free signature you can keep editing and install into Gmail in one click, ProSignature's free plan is the strongest option — no watermark on the basic template.
ProSignature installs directly into Gmail via Google's API — one click, no copy-paste. Most other tools rely on copy-paste or browser extensions.
For individuals, free tiers go far. Paying makes sense for premium design control or, for teams, centrally-managed consistent signatures — compare per-seat prices at your team size.
We make ProSignature, and we say so. We've kept claims factual (as of July 2026), linked competitors' strengths honestly, and named the cases where another tool is the better pick.
Against five weighted criteria: whether the signature reaches the inbox intact, how it installs, what the free tier actually costs, whether teams can be kept consistent, and real cost at real headcounts. Pricing was verified against each vendor's live page on 26 July 2026. There are no affiliate links on this page.
We made it, and we say so in every section. We also name the cases where a competitor is the better choice: Exclaimer for IT-administered fleets over about 25 mailboxes, MySignature for signature analytics, WiseStamp for add-on breadth. Judge the reasoning rather than the ranking.
ProSignature, HubSpot and Maileroo produce unwatermarked signatures on their free tiers (verified July 2026). WiseStamp and MySignature brand their free output; Newoldstamp and Exclaimer offer trials rather than free plans.
