mail-signatures.com — CodeTwo's free generator — is a genuinely good tool with a big template library, and it is free. It is also built Outlook-first, and its signatures are applied by hand. If you are on Gmail and want the signature to simply land in your settings, here is the honest comparison, with everything about their tool taken from their own live pages in July 2026.
Disclosure: ProSignature is our product, so read this as informed but interested. Every claim about mail-signatures.com below was read off their live generator page on 26 July 2026.
It is the free signature generator from CodeTwo, a long-established vendor in the Microsoft ecosystem. The flow is platform-first: you pick your email client — Outlook, New Outlook, Outlook 365, Apple Mail, Gmail, Thunderbird, Exchange Server or Microsoft 365 — then a template, then fill in personal data, company data, graphics, style and social links. It advertises 100+ professional templates, which is more than most free tools offer, and there is a 'remember my details' option so you are not retyping everything.
Credit where it is due: for an Outlook or Exchange shop that wants a good-looking signature without paying anything, it is a strong free option backed by a serious company.
Their final step is 'Apply your signature', with a user's manual to follow — you copy the result into your mail client yourself. ProSignature writes the signature directly into your Gmail settings through Google's official API, for new mail and replies, in one click. That difference is small once; it is not small when you change your title, your phone number or your team's branding.
Signature logos and icons have to live on a public URL, so whoever hosts them controls whether your signature keeps rendering. On 9 January 2026 mail-signatures.com moved where their template images live, and their own notice tells anyone who generated a signature before that date to update it or generate it again — otherwise the graphics break. That is handled transparently on their side, and it is also a reminder that a free generator's hosted assets are a dependency you inherit.
Neither point makes their tool bad. They make it a different shape: a template library you export from, rather than a signature manager that keeps working.
| mail-signatures.com (CodeTwo) | ProSignature | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free generator | Free plan, no watermark |
| Template count | 100+ | 13, each brand-adapted |
| Primary platform | Outlook / Microsoft 365 / Exchange | Gmail |
| Brand setup | You enter company data and graphics | Imported automatically from your website |
| Applying it | Manual, per their user's manual | One click via Google's API |
| Applies to replies too | Whatever you set manually | Set automatically |
| Editing later | Regenerate and re-apply | Edit and reinstall in one click |
| Team rollout | Their paid CodeTwo products | Locked design, per-person details |
It is built for that world, it is free, and CodeTwo's paid products are the natural next step if you later need server-side signatures across Exchange or Microsoft 365.
100+ templates is more than we offer. If you want to browse a large catalogue and export, that is exactly what it is for.
The one-click install is the whole point: the signature lands in Gmail settings for new mail and replies, and changing it later is one click rather than a copy-paste round trip. See Gmail email signatures or the manual route in our Gmail guide.
Type your work email and your logo, brand colours and social links are pulled from your company site automatically.
Comparing more broadly? Our eight-tool comparison puts prices side by side, and there are individual write-ups for WiseStamp, MySignature, htmlsig, SyncSignature, Newoldstamp and Exclaimer.

Your brand imported from your website, the signature written into Gmail in one click, images hosted by us. Free, no card.
Create my signature — freeYes — the signature generator at mail-signatures.com is free, with 100+ templates. It is made by CodeTwo, whose paid products cover server-side signature management for Exchange and Microsoft 365.
Yes, Gmail is one of the platforms you can pick. The difference is in how the signature is applied: you follow their instructions to put it in place yourself, whereas ProSignature writes it into your Gmail settings through Google's official API in one click.
Their notice explains it: they changed the web location of the images used in their templates, and signatures generated before 9 January 2026 need to be updated or regenerated. It is a good illustration of why it matters who hosts your signature's images.
mail-signatures.com, clearly — 100+ against our 13. Ours are adapted to your brand automatically, which is a different trade-off: fewer starting points, less manual styling.
There is nothing to migrate. Enter your work email, let the brand machine import your logo and colours, pick a template and install — about a minute. Your old signature stays in place until the new one replaces it.
